Eroica hop pellets (9.5% AAU) at :02 O.G. 1.052 Wyeast 2112 California Common Yeast, pitched at 70¡F After one day, moved to "cool spot" at 45-55¡F 5 weeks in primary Racked to bottling bucket to set outside for "eis-ing." Drew off about half of volume in ice. 4 weeks in secondary at 45¡F Gravity: 1.022 Primed with 12 oz. Malto Goya with 1/4 teaspoon of dry Lager yeast. Rating: 29.5 out of possible 50. Judges comments: "Aroma: Low everything. California Common should have some hop aroma... Nice head and color... Dry, don't notice alcohols, clean for a lager. Lacks malt character, very astingent." "Nice hoppy nose, some alcoholic overtones. Not much malt... Hops are a bit overpowering. The finish is all bitterness and dry, causing a certain unpleasant astingency... Not a pounding beer but not a sipping beer either. Finish is painful. It keeps going and going in the astirngent range."
